US Contrarian Fund

Through deep fundamental analysis, we invest in what we believe are mispriced business models, unconstrained by sector and with flexibility across market cap

Overview

INVESTMENT OBJECTIVE

A US-centric equity fund, investing opportunistically in what we believe are mispriced business models, unconstrained by sector and with flexibility across market cap. Through deep fundamental analysis, we seek to identify misunderstood and underappreciated companies where we can invest with conviction to create long-term capital appreciation.

The Fund’s investment objective is to seek long-term growth of capital.
The Fund pursues its objective by investing primarily in common stocks of US issuers of any size, which may include larger well-established issuers and/or smaller developing growth issuers. Opportunistic alpha is achieved by the Fund investing opportunistically across variety of market capitalisations predominantly in the US in its attempt to generate alpha (i.e. obtain excess returns) for Shareholders. Investing opportunistically means investing in stocks which are undervalued or show potential for future growth / returns at times when such opportunities arise. No more than 10% of the net asset value of the Fund may be invested in securities traded on any one developing market and the aggregate amount of the Fund which may be invested in securities traded on the developing markets is 20% of the net asset value of the Fund.

The Fund’s investment objective is to seek long-term growth of capital.

The Fund pursues its objective by investing at least 80% of its net asset value in equities of US companies. It is free to invest in companies of any size, which may include larger well-established issuers and/or smaller emerging growth companies and across industries and sectors.

ABOUT THIS FUND

  • Leveraging our deep fundamental research, we apply independent thinking to a broad opportunity set to identify companies trading at a significant discount to intrinsic value and capable of compounding growth over a long duration
  • We seek durable companies where the business model is misunderstood, assets are undervalued or growth trajectory is underappreciated by the market to construct a concentrated all-cap portfolio with differentiated sources of returns
  • With a broad opportunity set, differentiated sources of return and diversification across market cap and style, the portfolio may serve as a diversifying equity asset not tied to the index or broad economy
