The first-of-its-kind, this is a quarterly, long-term study into global dividend trends, analysing dividends paid by the 1,200 largest firms by market capitalisation. It is a measure of progress that global firms are making in paying their investors an income on their capital.
Global dividends reached a Q3 record of
US$431.1bn
up 3.1% year-on-year on both a headline and underlying basis
Banks and media companies (which include internet media)
made the largest contribution to growth
88% of companies raised payouts or
held them steady and median (or typical) dividend growth was 6.0%
No change to underlying growth expectation of 6.4% for 2024
but headline figure reduced slightly to US$1.73 trillion (+4.2% year-on-year) owing to lower one-off special dividends
