Foundation
At Janus Henderson, we believe investing is a two-way street.
The Janus Henderson Foundation has been the primary giving arm of our organisation. We put our passion and commitment to work to help people reach their goals through our investment products, as well as our investments in the community. In both cases, our goal is the same—to make life and lives better.

Our mission
Elevating education
Our mission is to invest in a brighter future together by helping youth achieve their full potential, enhancing educational opportunities in our communities, and supporting the ideas and passions of our employees. We proudly support programmes that foster blended learning, early childhood literacy, enhanced student/teacher relationships, and financial education. By supporting initiatives that improve the educational experience and learning potential of children, we hope to make a meaningful impact on student achievement and cultivate the talent of the future.
Charitable and community partnership
We believe the path to a better world starts at home. We've fostered a corporate culture of social awareness and volunteering among our employees, enabling us to extend our philanthropic reach to thousands of organisations around the world. Our people are empowered to give through our Foundation’s Matching Gift and Donations for Doers Programmes, where employees seek funds for their charity of choice through a global, philanthropic competition called the Janus Henderson Charity Challenge. Through these grassroots initiatives, we support community projects for areas in Asia Pacific, EMEA, and North America, and research projects that help combat some of the leading diseases impacting populations globally.

The Janus Henderson Foundation seeks to give back in ways that are reflective of our employee’s passions, both locally and across the world. To accomplish this, we invest in regional programmes that support the communities where we live and work, such as Junior Achievement, SeeBeyondBorders, and Musicians Making a Difference.
The Mirabel Foundation is the only organisation in Australia specifically addressing the needs of children who have been orphaned or abandoned due to parental drug use. The tragedy of drug‐related deaths is compounded by the children left behind. Children without families may find themselves in foster care and sometimes separated from their siblings. The Mirabel Foundation is determined to provide the children and their caregivers with much-needed emotional and practical support. Mirabel’s programmes have made a positive impact on the lives of vulnerable children, ensuring that they are given the best possible chance of a positive, drug-free future—a future where they become valued members of the community.
Creating Pathways: Alternative Education for At-Risk Youth, supported by Janus Henderson and designed by Musicians Making a Difference (MMAD), has been an important entry-level programme for those who are new to MMAD, an Australian charity that aims to transform young lives through music. MMAD delivers in-person and online creative support to engage, inspire, educate, and empower young people through the power of music and mentoring.
In 2025, we initiated a multi-year collaboration with SeeBeyondBorders to support the implementation of a transformative education program across twenty government primary schools. The goal of this program is to inspire and empower 65 teachers, 21 teacher mentors, and 32 school leaders to enhance teaching and learning quality through specialized interventions that foster communities of practice. Participants, including teachers and school leaders, will undergo foundation and technical teaching interventions designed to boost their skills and confidence in teaching and leadership. These interventions will address key topics such as mathematics, literacy, assessment, classroom management, mentoring, teacher identity, and leadership. By the conclusion of the program, we anticipate that 2,848 grades 1–3 students will have significantly improved learning outcomes, with a 34% increase in the number of students achieving Minimum Proficiency Levels in mathematics and literacy skills.
EMEA
As part of Janus Henderson's Corporate Social Responsibility pillars, we must support our local communities through philanthropic efforts. In the UK, our areas of focus include financial education initiatives, including Just Finance Foundation and Rock the Street, Wall Street. We partner with Chapter One UK to enhance early childhood literacy through the Chapter One Programme. The Foundation also invests in making the city of London better by supporting the Lord Mayor’s Appeal Charity.
The Janus Henderson Foundation is supporting 100 & First Foundation through its Growing Futures programme, a nature-based mentoring and skills development initiative for young people aged 14–16 who have been excluded from mainstream education. Delivered in partnership with a Pupil Referral Unit in Hertfordshire, the programme provides weekly farm-based learning combined with trusted mentoring to help participants build confidence, resilience, and essential life skills. By backing this early intervention approach, we are helping to disrupt the school-to-prison pipeline and improve wellbeing, engagement, and long-term outcomes for some of the most vulnerable young people in the community.
We are proud to support Causeway Education through the Janus Henderson Scholarship UK, a programme designed to advance social mobility and support students as they transition into university life. Delivered in partnership with Causeway Education, the scholarship provides financial assistance of £2,000 per scholar alongside structured, one-to-one guidance, transition webinars, and ongoing wellbeing and financial check-ins throughout the first year of study. Beyond financial support, scholars may also access career insights and networking opportunities with Janus Henderson employees, helping to build confidence, skills, and professional networks. This partnership reflects our commitment to education, inclusion, and investing in a Brighter Future for talented students.
We are proud to support the Chapter One Programme, which enables volunteers to remotely tutor youth aged 6–7 in core reading skills every week. Through this programme, volunteers leverage virtual sessions to tutor students by reading stories, reviewing comprehension questions, and playing games to reinforce the key phonetics learned that day.
Janus Henderson was the first organisation to participate in this programme in Colorado in 2012, and with the catalytic financial support of the Janus Henderson Foundation, Chapter One was able to launch Chapter One in the UK in 2018. Once the Foundation's initial investment was provided to Chapter One, the UK team completed the vital preparatory work for launch, including registering as a charity, recruiting enough participating schools, and identifying corporate partners to kick-start the programme at a reasonable scale. Chapter One UK has grown to 140 corporate partners and over 2,700 volunteers who support over 2,900 children in 97 schools in the UK.
Grounded in the belief that learning to read is a basic right with the power to transform lives, Chapter One programmes and services fuse technology, corporate volunteerism, and intensive support to enable meaningful human interaction. As Seth Weinberger, IFL’s founder and US CEO, noted, ‘ Janus Henderson has made a deep and enduring commitment to support our work to realise a world in which all children, regardless of background, are confidently reading to learn, grow, and thrive throughout life. ’
Through its Confidence+ grant, the Janus Henderson Foundation is supporting the Childhood Trust to deliver targeted confidence-building and youth development programmes through a network of grassroots charity partners. We have committed funding for multiple years to enable The Childhood Trust to work with seven specialist organisations focused on improving confidence, mental health, employability, creativity, and life skills for children and young people facing disadvantage.
The UK is grappling with a devastating cost-of-living crisis with the biggest impacts yet to come. Extreme poverty rates have left many households in a state of destitution, struggling to make ends meet. These soaring levels of poverty and the resulting household stress have had a profound impact on millions of children across the country who no longer have the chance to play and experience joy. Greenhouse Sports provides accessible places and spaces for youth to thrive. Greenhouse Sports will continue to be there for these children at times they are most vulnerable. Through the multi-year grant provided by the Janus Henderson Foundation, they partnered with seven primary programmes in 2024 and provided 1,614 coaching and mentoring hours, delivered 1,365 sessions, and reached 199 children.
Through our multi-year grant with the Just Finance Foundation, they have reached 8,542 students across 311 classrooms and 74 schools through the facilitation of the Milo’s Money curriculum. The Just Finance Foundation is a UK charity dedicated to improving financial education so that every child and family has equal opportunity to thrive.
As one component of the LifeSaver Programme, Milo’s Money is designed for youth aged 5–7 years old and educates students about money lessons engagingly and creatively. The Life Savers Programme is designed to deliver financial education training and resources to primary schools by working directly with the teachers, educators, and schools to provide a wide range of curriculum resources and practical activities. With the increase in the cost-of-living in London, teachers are leveraging this curriculum to instil both the value and relevance of financial education, and the importance of starting the financial literacy learning journey at an early age.
Through a transformative multi-year grant partnership, Janus Henderson is igniting the potential of high school and university students by bringing the “M” in STEM—mathematics—to life. By focusing on financial and investment fundamentals, we are opening doors to knowledge, confidence, and opportunity.
As a proud industry partner, we’re committed to expanding access and providing meaningful guidance to students and alumni as they journey from classrooms to careers. Our goal is to foster greater participation in the capital markets and help shape the next generation of financial leaders.
Janus Henderson employees play a vital role in this work by leading hands-on workshops, sharing real-world insights, and welcoming students into immersive work experiences at our office locations. Together, we’re building a future where every student has the tools to thrive.
North America
Giving back to the communities most in need is an essential part of our strategy, and we must invest in education to help develop the leaders of tomorrow. From grants and philanthropic programmes sponsored by the Janus Henderson Foundation to grassroots volunteerism spearheaded by employees, Janus Henderson has, and continues, to make a significant impact in North America by investing in organisations like the Denver Scholarship Foundation and Young Americans Center for Financial Education.
City Year has partnered with the Janus Henderson Foundation to help deliver its Whole School Whole Child (WSWC) program across six Denver public schools during the 2025–2026 school year. This funding helps place trained AmeriCorps members in schools as Student Success Coaches providing academic tutoring, attendance and behavior support, enrichment activities, and family engagement for more than 5,000 students in under-resourced communities. By strengthening school capacity and fostering supportive, inclusive learning environments, our support advances educational equity and helps students build the academic and interpersonal skills needed to stay on track and reach their full potential.
We are proud to support the Chapter One Programme which enables volunteers to remotely tutor first graders in core reading skills every week. Further, the programme expanded internationally into the UK in 2018 because of the strategic support of the Janus Henderson Foundation. Grounded in the belief that learning to read is a basic right with the power to transform lives, the Chapter One programme and services fuse technology, corporate volunteerism, and intensive support to enable meaningful human interaction.
In 2023, Janus Henderson and Chapter One partnered to develop a story-writing competition for Janus Henderson’s colleagues based on the theme of financial literacy. The competition allowed our people an opportunity to engage in Innovations for Learning’s mission-driven literacy work and develop a creative children’s story. Three employees were selected to have their books published on the virtual platform. They worked closely with the editor to ensure the content was appropriate for the reading level and partnered with the illustrator to ensure the images in the virtual book reflected the rich diversity of our communities.
This year Janus Henderson embarked in a partnership with the Denver Health Foundation to strengthen career pathways for young people from low-income backgrounds through the Medical Career Collaborative (MC2). This support helps provide paid internships, mentoring, career exposure, and access to healthcare certifications for high school students and recent graduates, enabling them to explore and progress into meaningful careers in healthcare. By investing in these programmes, the Janus Henderson Foundation is helping to diversify the healthcare workforce, expand educational and employment opportunities, and improve long-term health equity for Denver’s communities while also supporting Denver Health’s role as a critical medical provider.
The Denver Public Schools Foundation (DPS)
The Janus Henderson Foundation has funded innovative, ground-breaking work at the Denver Public Schools Foundation that allows us to act locally, but influence education nationally. The Foundation awarded a $3 million, three-year grant to Denver public schools in 2008, and another $2.1 million, three-year grant to the district in 2012. Denver Public Schools has invested this money in the development of programmes designed to increase teacher effectiveness, improve student outcomes, and create unique learning environments for students that utilise today's most innovative technologies. We have also partnered with DPS to create Growth through Connections, a programme focused on student-teacher relationships, as well as the EdConnect programme, which is designed to expose students to educational careers. In 2023, the firm was an early adapter of their CLASS initiative designed to provide wrap-around services for a local school. Last year, Janus Henderson continued to support students through employee volunteering, back-to-school initiatives, and food drives. We are proud to build on this long history of supporting critical education initiatives by investing in the futures of our most valuable resource—our youth.
The Denver Scholarship Foundation
To ensure students have access to a college education, we partnered with the Denver Scholarship Foundation to create the Janus Henderson Scholarship for Denver Public School students. The Denver Scholarship Foundation awarded this scholarship to 24 unique scholars in 2025. Since its inception in 2020, Janus Henderson has invested $200,000 in this needs-based scholarship and has helped make college possible by supporting 129 scholarships for 68 first-generation students pursuing a degree or certificate in STEM, business, economics, accounting, marketing, communications, and/or journalism.

Young Americans Center for Financial Education

Over the last few years, the Foundation has partnered with the Young Americans Center for Financial Education with a multi-year commitment. This grant allows us to be the exclusive sponsor of the AmeriTowne Centers, located in Denver and Lakewood, Colorado.
